Role Overview
An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a permanent position as Development Manager of the Customer Solutions Data Team within the Strategy Department in Irish Life Customer Solutions.
Reporting into the Senior Manager of the Customer Solutions Data Team, this role will suit an IT professional with some years of experience in Financial Services. You will play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering strategic data opportunities which drive value across the organisation. This leadership position combines technical expertise, strategic vision and team development to ensure the delivery of impactful data products and insights.
Team Background
- This role is part of the Customer Solutions Data Team, reporting to the Senior Manager of the Data Team.
- The team has responsibility for delivering innovative data solutions to empower stakeholders across the company to make data driven decisions, ultimately improving business performance and customer outcomes.
- Combining actuarial, IT and data expertise, the team operates within the Customer Solutions Strategy Department at Irish Life.
Working with the team, the successful applicant will :
- Manage a team to effectively delivery successful projects while taking responsibility for the projects in line with the data strategy
- Provide oversight and governance to projects to ensure adherence to best practice and industry standards
- Partner with stakeholders to identify and drive data-driven opportunities aligned with Irish Life's goals.
- Collaborate with, build & maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, other functions and solutions across the group.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations, ensuring key deliverables are identified and prioritised
- Take responsibility for the integrity of local data infrastructure, ensuring that designs meet operational requirements, defined roadmaps and strategies and quality standards
- Provide strategic input to the Customer Solutions data strategy to drive improvements in delivery, technology and structure
- Maintain a strong understanding of the business context to provide actionable advice and insights.
- Monitor business and external developments related to data
- Lead, develop and motivate a team to ensure they achieve and contribute to their maximum potential
- Work closely with the management team to shape a future-ready data strategy and team.
What you will need to be successful in the role
The ideal candidate will have :
- 5+ years experience in IT or Business Data Analytics
- A 3rd level degree in IT/Computer Science/Data Analytics or equivalent, or relevant business or technical experience
- Data architecture and data modelling/data engineering knowledge
- Data warehousing in any technology, but preferably on Microsoft/Azure/Snowflake platforms
- Power BI including data modelling with M and DAX, and visualisation with a range of standard or third-party visuals
- SQL Server including T/SQL language, Integration Service (SSIS), Analysis Service (SSAS Tabular), and Reporting Service (Power BI)
- Experience of successfully leading and delivering projects/initiatives
- Client-facing experience in business analysis & data analysis
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines
- Be highly motivated with an ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate flexibility
- Strong analytical skills with a desire to challenge & improve practices and processes as required
- A very high level of energy & drive, and lead by example
Knowledge or experience in the following is an advantage :
- Knowledge of Irish Life core systems (Cloas, Administrator, CRM Dynamics etc.)
- Code deployment, post-deployment support, production support, on-call/on-site support for major data migration events, or incident management
- Project management experience including scoping & initiation, WBS, estimation, work tracking, status reporting
- Familiarity with GDPR, ICOFR, ITIL or other relevant governance frameworks as applied to data projects
- Use of DevOps processes and tooling e.g. build, testing, scheduling/orchestration, deployment specifically for data warehousing or cube platforms
