Mission Summary
This position contributes to Motional’s driverless future by helping ensure a robust/reliable design of Motional’s Autonomous Vehicle.  As part of this team, the candidate will work across all systems in the vehicle to drive new features into the design, iterate on current designs for improved performance and drive root cause investigations for issues experienced on the road.  This team will work on the forefront of integrated autonomous technology to deliver Motional’s autonomous vehicle.

What you will work on: 

  • Drive design and system analysis to lead 10x reliability improvement initiative
  • Perform analysis to determine areas of the platform and autonomy systems that should be improved to meet reliability and latency targets
  • Lead analysis of cross-team system issues and recommend changes
  • Propose and implement new designs across autonomous vehicles system to ensure safe and performant operations
  • Lead validation analysis/testing across systems to ensure robustness
  • You will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to deployment of machine learning in safety critical systems

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience in complex system engineering prefably in Robotics or  other Autonomous Platforms
  • Experience with robotics control systems and the ability to root cause problems
  • Experience writing database queries using SQL
  • Experience writing software in Python and/or C++ 
  • Experience working with common network protocols  (Ethernet, CAN, etc.)
  • Experience with developing integrated systems with requirements definition/programming/validation testing and safety analysis.

Bonus points:

  • Masters degree in Data Science or Computer Science
  • Experience with safety standards (e.g. ISO26262, ARP4761)
  • Experience with open-source robotics middleware (ROS, DDS)
  • Experience with robotics sensors (e.g.; cameras, lidars) and sensor drivers
  • Experience profiling CPU, GPU, Disk, and Network usage

Salary Range$144,300—$207,000 USD
