Head of Product – Generative AI Platform for Government

Overview

We’re looking for a bold, visionary Head of Product to help us build the future of generative AI in government. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role offers the rare opportunity to take a cutting-edge platform—already built by our technical team—and turn it into a scalable, high-impact business serving public agencies. 

You’ll be the founding product leader for Franklin AI, a new-to-market generative AI solution for the public sector. You’ll be shaping the long-term roadmap, owning product strategy, and guiding execution across design, engineering, client success, and go-to-market. You'll partner closely with applied scientists and engineers, engage with federal agencies to uncover critical use cases, and define an industry-defining AI product that empowers public sector employees and transforms government operations.

Responsibilities

• Set and own the product vision for Franklin AI in partnership with the CEO, CTO, CAIO, and engineering leadership team
• Drive strategy and execution for the product roadmap, balancing quick delivery with long term success
• Represent the product externally with agency leadership, industry partners and investors
• Build and lead the product team over time, as the business scales (including hiring product managers, engineers, and client-success)
• Engage with government clients, prospects and partners to identify high-value use cases, workflows, and pain points
• Bridge engineering, science, design, and customer-facing teams to deliver on the roadmap
• Stay ahead of AI/ML innovation, compliance, regulations, procurement shifts, and the broader govtech landscape

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years working with government agencies
• Demonstrated success building and scaling 0→1 or early-stage B2B platforms, ideally involving emerging technology
• Leadership presence. You’re confident leading conversations with executives, engineers, and external partners
• Ability to communicate fluently across technical and non-technical audiences, from engineers to federal executives
• Deep familiarity with government procurement cycles and how decisions are made in federal environments
• Experience translating complex customer requirements into simple, scalable solutions

Preferred:

• Experience at USDS, 18F, a govtech startup, or a top-tier technology firm
• Hands on exposure to AI/ML products, with a proven track record of delivery
• Previous involvement in fundraising, product evangelism, or working with investors
• Strong passion for improving how the government works
