Data Analytics Specialist
What this position is about - Purpose:
Join JTI South Africa as our Data Analytics Specialist, where you'll empower data-driven decisions at every level to achieve sustainable commercial success and operational excellence. You'll translate market complexities into clear strategic insights, optimize field activities, and uncover future growth areas. Your responsibilities include robust market modeling, forecasting, fostering collaboration, and building a strong data-focused environment.
What will you do - Responsibilities:
- Drive the strategic planning process by analyzing consumer trends, market evolution, pricing dynamics, and the competitive landscape.
- Lead strategic planning and business review presentations for various stakeholders.
- Generate reliable and actionable market insights through diverse research methods and compliance checks.
- Continuously seek innovative and efficient ways to gain a deep understanding of the market.
- Provide strategic recommendations and insights to brand, field marketing, digital, and sales teams to foster sustainable business growth.
- Develop and maintain a robust market forecasting model to support strategic decisions and engage proactively with stakeholders.
- Construct a comprehensive market model for all categories, considering economic factors, consumer behavior, regulations, pricing, and company strategy.
- Generate various pricing scenarios to inform management decisions, collaborating with the finance team.
- Support effective advocacy efforts through the analysis of government revenue and future strategies.
- Collaborate actively with regional and global teams for market data requests and regular reporting.
- Design and implement a data-driven ecosystem for territory management and omni-channel activation across all consumer and trade interactions.
- Continuously enhance data tools supporting marketing, sales, and finance functions, both in the office and in the field, focusing on:
- Identifying growth opportunities.
- Empowering commercial ownership and facilitating the planning process.
- Ensuring effective execution of initiatives with outlet-level guidance.
- Providing comprehensive performance tracking and ROI analysis.
- Integrate existing data tools with other local and global solutions to enhance consumer-centric operations and omni-channel engagement.
- Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and automation to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT, digital teams, and regional/global stakeholders for the development and maintenance of data-driven tools.
- Shape the data strategy for the South Africa market and establish data governance to ensure seamless integration of marketing and sales activities across all touchpoints.
- Develop a blueprint for a comprehensive consumer and customer data ecosystem using current and upcoming global solutions.
- Establish data governance procedures for marketing and sales to optimize data structure and processes for efficient modeling.
- Create robust data models to effectively feed data tools and omni-channel analytics.
- Work closely with global IT, HQ strategy, and global data and analytics teams.
- Manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently to ensure the sustainable achievement of objectives.
Who are we looking for - Requirements:
- Education: University Degree in Statistics, Marketing, Economics, or Business Analytics.
- Work Experience: 5+ years of proven experience, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English.
- Functional Skills:
- Ability to translate complex data into clear and understandable insights and business recommendations derived from both qualitative and quantitative research and data.
- Strong analytical mindset with the capacity to translate data into tangible business impact.
- High commercial awareness and a deep understanding of consumer behavior dynamics.
- Strategic thinking capabilities coupled with being a self-starter.
- Proven ability to build trust and foster collaboration across various functional teams.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in people management and leadership.
- Cross-cultural work experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, consensus-driven, and diverse work environment.
