Merchology seeks a Data Analytics Engineer for our Data team. Reporting to the Director of Data, Development, and Sales Operations, the Data Analytics Engineer is a critical role that will play a key part in all aspects of Merchology’s business intelligence efforts. This person will be responsible for data modeling, creating reports, and analyzing data across the sales, marketing, operations, and customer service departments.
A successful Data Analytics Engineer will:
- Design, execute, and ensure quality of automated reports, live dashboards, and one-off requests using SQL, DBT, Tableau, and Excel
- Build data models using DBT paired with a Snowflake data warehouse environment
- Coordinate with various internal teams to understand and transform raw data sources into data models that can be used for downstream reporting and visualization in BI tools
- Effectively use BI tools, such as Tableau, to visualize and serve data to key stakeholders
- Balance large-scale projects and small-scale requests to provide ongoing value to key stakeholders
- Demonstrate a creative and enthusiastic approach to research
- Willing to take the lead on the requirement gathering and stakeholder management of a project
- Develop and implement reporting on customer segment performance, trends, and key behavior drivers
- Analyze customer demographics, psychographic data, and purchasing behavior to improve segmentation of customer database, marketing campaigns, and sales activities
- Analyze the effectiveness of marketing and sales efforts to ensure best utilization of resources
- Maintain and improve dashboards for sales, marketing, operations, customer service, and management teams
- Be willing to conduct a deep analysis of a topic and use that data to increase the value of Merchology
- Demonstrate a curiosity about data that drives new ideas and new perspectives on how to effectively utilize and create metrics
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of experience in an analytical reporting role in sales, marketing, retail, ecommerce, or related field
- Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred in Analytics, Computer Science, Math, Data Science, or Economics
- Must have experience working in a variety of analytics and database programs; Tableau and SQL required
- Advanced Excel skills a must
- Must have extremely strong analytical skills
- Must be able to communicate findings and business insights to management teams and other stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to recommend creative and practical solutions to increase revenue and optimize marketing and sales practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Snowflake and general best practices for a data warehouse
- Experience building data models in DBT
- Experience working in HubSpot, Shopify, NetSuite, and Google Analytics
- Experience working in a high growth environment

- Remote hybrid role: Two at-home days and three onsite days (following completion of training period)
