SSI is seeking a data science analysis professional with expertise in Python, R, and similar data modeling tools to support a team in transforming raw data into meaningful data-oriented languages and visualization software. The successful candidate will apply data mining and modeling principles in support of our nation's naval forces on a new 5-year contract. This position requires onsite work at NAVWAR HQ in Old Town San Diego with the possibility of partial remote work at customer discretion.
Specific duties include:
- Utilizing basic understanding of cyber security and RMF process, provide data science support to a Navy Cyber Analytics division.
- Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
- Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Perform data analytics & visualization to inform critical cybersecurity decisions and drive analytics best practices across the Navy.
- Visualize, interpret and report data findings.
- Create dynamic data reports.
- Participate in meetings and the development of task related deliverables as they relate to the continued development, growth, and use of the technology, systems, tools, standards, policy, procedures and products for Information Assurance and Cyber Security.
- Provide support for engineering events and certification related functions.
- Develop cyber security metrics related to the data collection, monitoring, analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Must have an active Secret clearance (minimum), Top Secret with SCI eligibility a plus
- 3 years of professional experience in a related data science field
- Must have a current Sec+ and one other cert such as: EMC Data Science Associate, Cloudera Certified Data Scientist, Certified Apache Hadoop Developer or Certified Admin for Apache Hadoop.
- Experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts
- Experience with frequent scripting language use, such as Python and R and using packages commonly used in data science applications or advanced analytics
- Experience with data science, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms to support analytics objectives
- Experience applying Structured Query Language (SQL); Non Structured Query Language (NoSQL); Application Program Interface (API) Building; Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines; Web Application Servers; or Search Index
- Experience using programming languages and products such as Python, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, Numpy, Requests, or Antigravity
- Experience applying complex mathematical and statistical concepts
- Experience applying statistical and operations research methods and tools
- Experience employing spreadsheets for data manipulation and visualization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Navy Cyber or RMF knowledge a plus
- Certified Cloud Professional (CCP) (Cloudera)
- Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)
- Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD)
- Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE)
