Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish, English (business level)

Desired:
  • Experience in handling drug-condition databases (DrugBank, ChEMBL, TTD, …).
  • Experience in programming in MATLAB.
  • Experience in network analysis of biological systems.
  • Experience in in-silico simulations of drug efficacy analysis (PBPK modeling, …).
  • Previous experience in a research setting funded by the EU-funded H2020 program.

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • Expertise in data-processing programming languages, such as R and Python.
  • Experience in pipelines and methods of analysis of omics data (microarrays, RNA-Seq, proteomics, scRNA-Seq, metabolomics, miRNA, …).
  • Experience in statistical analysis applied to medical settings.
  • Experience in Machine Learning-based data analysis methods.

Main responsibilities and duties:

Provide bioinformatics support for the H2020 DISCOvERIE project with the following tasks:

  • Molecular data integration (transcriptomics, proteomics and genomics). Dissect gene-disease relations based on an existing pathological protein network model (MATLAB based).
  • Clinical data curation, machine learning approaches to identify biomarkers. Interpretation of results in the context of existing knowledge.
  • Reporting of results following EU schemes, preparation of deliverables and dissemination materials.
  • Prepare a scientific publication.

 

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 40h/week.
  • Starting date: immediately.
  • Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale).
  • Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities.
