HFA TBA Data Analyst

HilltopSecurities is looking to hire an HFA TBA Data Analyst. The whole loan trading desk in New York manages risk on residential mortgages, from the time that the rate is locked for the borrower, through securitization and ultimate sale of the resulting MBS.  The desk has been in existence for several years, and the business has experienced rapid growth. Significant technology is already in place to help manage the business; however, the desk is seeking a dedicated Business Data Analyst with passion for data to help redo the existing reporting framework. In addition, the compliance business too recently has seen dramatic growth. That business uses a third-party software, atop which a similar reporting framework needs to be built.

 

• Development, enhancement & maintenance of reporting framework to be used both on the TBA side, and the Compliance side
• Performing data analysis using SQL programming and/or Python
• Data visualization: Develop interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g. Microsoft SQL Platform and Power BI)
• Business recommendations: Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance business strategies, improve processes and drive efficiency.

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Math or Statistics
• Programming knowledge of SQL, Python, VBA and familiarity with relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server)
• Working knowledge of SSRS and PowerBI preferred for data visualization projects
• Basic knowledge of fixed-income math, working knowledge of Bloomberg preferred
• Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment 
• An aptitude for zero fault tolerance and attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
