Description
The Gilbert Quantitative Wildlife Ecology Lab at Oklahoma State University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to start in Summer or Fall 2025. The postdoc will use large datasets (e.g., eBird, BBS, NEON) for macroecological analyses, including species responses to global change and environmental drivers of community structure.
The Gilbert Lab conducts a variety of quantitative wildlife research, with previous research projects focused on large-scale patterns in wildlife behavior, responses of species and communities to global change, and development of methods for complex ecological data. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications and will play an important role in maintaining the research excellence of the group. They should also demonstrate the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and other research team members.
The position is for two years (contingent upon satisfactory performance in the first year and availability of second year funding) and comes with an annual salary of $55,000 plus benefits. Oklahoma State University is located in Stillwater, OK, which has been described as America’s friendliest college town and is characterized by low cost of living. This position may be eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule; however, any offer is conditional upon the approval by University Human Resources in consideration of Oklahoma State University policies, labor laws, and suitability to the work of the position/department. If remote work is approved, the employee may not have an office on campus.

Qualifications
- PhD in biology, ecology, wildlife, statistics, or related field
- Strong writing skills as evidenced by first-author papers published in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience with statistical modeling, for example generalized linear mixed-effects models, generalized additive models, occupancy models, etc.
- Experience with functional trait and phylogenetic comparative methods
- Experience with coding in programming languages such as R and/or Python
- Experience with GIS and spatial data
