AVK are seeking a founding member of our data team to design, build, and implement the infrastructure that will guide the company through the incredible growth journey we’ve been on over the past few years.
In the last two years, AVK has undergone a major digital transformation, introducing a range of cloud-based tools across the business — including Salesforce, Netsuite, Proscope, Asana, Job Logic, and more. Our next step is to start connecting the dots — weaving our data together to bring our strategic storytelling to life.
To help us do this, we’re looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join us. We’re seeking someone who can turn rich data streams into powerful insights that will guide, support, and accelerate the business as we continue to grow.
Reporting directly to the VP of Business Operations and working closely with our VP of Finance, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the very foundations of our data operations at AVK, with a future opportunity to grow a team around you as the function matures.
Requirements
Data Architecture and Integration (50%)
Architect and implement scalable data pipelines across multiple platforms, including Salesforce, Netsuite, Proscope, Asana, and Job Logic.
Design and maintain ETL/ELT processes to stitch together AVK’s cross-functional data
Lead the creation of our master datasets in collaboration with the VP of Business Operations and CFO.
Build flexible architecture with a view to future scalability into cloud warehouses
Data Visualisation and Storytelling (25%)
Develop dynamic, high-quality dashboards and visualisations using Power BI.
Partner with Business Operations to create compelling narratives from our data, supporting key leadership decisions.
Provide hands-on development of reports while helping shape the longer-term business intelligence strategy.
Data Governance and Best Practices (15%)
Establish and promote data governance standards, ensuring accuracy, security, and quality across AVK datasets.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define critical business metrics and KPIs.
Innovation and Future Tools (10%)
Identify opportunities to introduce tools such as dbt, Fivetran, or Airflow to enhance AVK’s data capability.
Stay abreast of emerging trends and continuously innovate new approaches to data architecture and visualisation.
Additional Responsibilities:
Advocate for a data-driven culture across AVK, empowering teams to engage with data confidently.
Play a leadership role in scaling the data function over time, transitioning from builder to strategic leader.
Contribute to system-level thinking about how platforms integrate and how insights are surfaced across the business.
Technical Expertise
At least 7 years of experience working across data engineering, data science, or data analytics functions.
At least 5 years of strong hands-on experience with SQL and other data modelling languages.
Strong hands-on experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines across cloud-based platforms.
Bonus points for any recent experience with Microsoft Fabric.
Advanced Power BI skills — capable of crafting clear, accessible dashboards from complex datasets. Deep understanding of data modelling best practices, including scalable architecture design.
Familiarity with Salesforce, Netsuite, or equivalent cloud CRM and ERP systems. Experience implementing data governance, data quality, and security protocols.
Collaboration and Storytelling
Ability to translate technical data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Strong communication skills, engaging key leadership audiences with data narratives. Proactive relationship-building skills with cross-functional teams.

Desirable
Bonus points for experience modelling data processes and systems within the construction, manufacturing, or project-based industries.
Experience with cloud warehouse solutions (Azure,Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
Exposure to data orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow).
