Job Summary

The main objectives of this Markets Trading Desk Quant (Swaps and xVA) in the Global Markets Division of the Americas (GMDA) will be to work very closely with the swaps and xVA trading desk to support trading decisions, risk management and product development by providing analytic and data driven insights. You will also work with quant and technologies teams across MUFG to assist the development of quantitative models and trading systems. This role will require strong numerical analysis skills, fixed income product knowledge (rates, credit and FX), understandings of mathematical finance, problem-finding and solving skills, strong leaderships and communication skills, and you can expand your expertise and experience in counterparty credit risk, collateral and xVA modelling and management.

Major Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Working closely with swaps and xVA traders to support pricing, position control and profit-and-loss (PnL) analysis by building and maintaining analytic tools, quickly responding to dynamically changing business and market environment.

Providing cross-asset trading solutions based on financial mathematics, data and statistical analysis, programming skills, and solid understandings of the OTC derivatives market, counterparty credit risk, funding, collateral, capital and xVA (including Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) and Funding Valuation adjustment (FVA)).

Assisting the development, implementation and maintenance of quantitative models and trading systems for new products and risk management enhancements by advising key stakeholders including sales, traders, risk managers, model validators, product control, legal, collateral managers, quants and technologies.

Other (Project) Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ownership, leadership and accountability for managing several projects or initiatives simultaneously.
  • Gathering business requirements, supporting testing and representing GMDA’s positions on model and system development projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • A master’s degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, computational sciences, or similar fields.
  • Basics of financial mathematics including stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo methods and no arbitrage derivatives pricing theory for fixed income linear and option products.
  • Practical knowledge of interest rate swaps and cross-currency swaps including market conventions.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office – Excel and experiences in VBA.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills to respond to business requests quickly.
  • Proactive attitude that engages and follows up the business.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with various groups in NY, London and Tokyo (Head Quarter).

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiences in hybrid models for interest rates, FX and credit.
  • Experiences in daily PnL attribution analysis, PnL forecasts and cross-gamma analysis.
  • Experiences in counterparty credit risk or XVA modelling and management.
  • Understandings of Basel rules, collateral management, ISDA derivatives documentations, and the OTC derivatives market reform (e.g., clearing, uncleared margin requirements and the ISDA SIMM).
  • Experiences in time series analysis of financial market data.
  • Experiences in Python and other programming languages (such as C++ and C#) and database skills.
  • Prior experience working on a Markets / Trading environment.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $110K - $145K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
