Chorus Australia
Use Data for Impact. Lead with Heart. Help Communities Thrive.
At Chorus, we believe every person and community deserves the chance to thrive. We provide aged care, disability, and mental health services across Western Australia—and we do it differently.
Our self-organising, local team model empowers staff to make real decisions with the people they support. We’re breaking down the barriers between service and community—and we’re looking for someone who shares our values to help us unlock the power of data in this mission.
We're seeking a Senior Data Scientist or Data Engineer who is not only technically excellent, but also deeply heart-centred, purpose-driven, and committed to using data to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
About the Role
As our senior data Enabling Lead, you will work with cross-functional teams—community support staff, care leaders, and decision-makers—to co-create insights that inform everything from operational efficiency to customer wellbeing.
You’ll design data solutions that honour real human stories, support better decision-making in our decentralised model, and ensure we remain accountable to the people and communities we serve.
This is not just a technical role—it’s a chance to be part of something deeply human.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Chorus teams to identify data opportunities that drive better outcomes for customers and communities.
- Design and maintain ethical, privacy-compliant data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Build accessible, impactful dashboards that frontline teams and local hubs can use to guide day-to-day decisions.
- Analyse service data (aged care, disability, mental health) to uncover trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Deliver clear, human-centred monthly performance reports that help teams track progress, reflect on impact, and guide continuous improvement.
- Support the development of Chorus’ data strategy and contribute to the evolution of our data platform, ensuring it aligns with our values, growth, and decentralised model.
- Support the development of Chorus' approach to community metrics—measuring wellbeing, connection, and quality of life.
- Support the growth of Chorus’ internal data capability, including mentoring and developing peers within the data and insights team.
- Promote best practices in data engineering and analytics, encouraging a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and improvement.
- Translate complex data into compelling, values-aligned stories that inspire action.
- Advocate for data practices that empower, not overwhelm, people at the heart of care.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Deep experience in data science or data engineering—ideally within healthcare, aged care, disability, or community services.
- Strong skills in Python, SQL, Power BI, or similar tools for data wrangling, modelling, and visualisation.
- Experience working within a Microsoft Azure environment, including services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or Azure Machine Learning.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools (e.g., scikit-learn, Azure ML, or similar platforms), and how to apply them responsibly and ethically in a human-centred care context.
- Passion for using data for social impact—you’re as interested in people as you are in performance.
- Knowledge of privacy, ethics, and responsible data use in Australian care contexts (e.g. Privacy Act 1988).
- The ability to explain data insights to non-technical audiences in an accessible, human way.
- A collaborative, humble mindset that fits with Chorus’ self-managed, non-hierarchical structure.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Australian aged care and disability datasets (e.g., My Aged Care, NDIS).
- Understanding of community development, mental health recovery, or social connection metrics.
- Previous experience working in a self-organising team or decentralised organisation.
Why Chorus?
- We’re values-led, not profit-driven. You’ll work for an organisation that prioritises kindness, inclusion, and connection.
- Self-organising teams. You’ll have autonomy and trust, and be part of something that’s reshaping how care is delivered.
- Make real impact. Your work will help improve lives—not just optimise systems.
- Flexible work environment. Hybrid/remote options available across WA.
- Full-time 2 year contract with opportunity to extend
Ready to Help Communities Thrive?
To apply, send your resume and a brief cover letter telling us:
- Why Chorus’ mission resonates with you;
