Senior Sofware Architect

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert in the design and architecture of Java and Python-based applications, including AI/ML-powered solutions, on the AWS cloud platform

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and highly available application architectures on AWS

• Design and architect robust, fault-tolerant, and performant application components and services, leveraging AWS cloud-native technologies, Apache Camel, and Spring Boot

• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes to validate the feasibility and business value of new technologies and approaches on the AWS platform

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, sharing best practices and driving the adoption of secure coding principles and industry benchmarking

• Continuously research and evaluate emerging AWS technologies, tools, and frameworks to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage

• Ensure the responsible and ethical development of AI/ML-powered applications, aligning with industry standards and regulatory requirements

• Collaborate with data engineering and data science teams to seamlessly integrate AI/ML components into the overall AWS-based technology landscape

• Drive the continuous improvement of application architecture, security, and performance through data-driven insights and benchmarking

• Align application architecture and design decisions with the requirements and guidelines set by the Application Architecture Board

• Ensure the implementation of robust application security principles and mechanisms, such as authentication, authorization, input validation, and secure communication, within the AWS environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on the design and architecture of Java and Python-based applications on the AWS cloud platform

• Proven track record of delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance application solutions in a production AWS environment

• Expertise in a wide range of AI/ML techniques and algorithms, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics

• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras, as well as AWS-based AI/ML services (e.g., AWS SageMaker, AWS Lambda, Amazon Comprehend)

• Extensive experience with Apache Camel, Spring Boot, and other Java/Python-based frameworks and technologies, as well as their integration with AWS services

• Hands-on experience with AWS data engineering and data science tools and frameworks (e.g., AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, Amazon Athena, Amazon Kinesis)

• Strong understanding of AWS architecture patterns, cloud-native design principles, and DevOps practices

• Expertise in secure coding practices, application security principles, and industry benchmarking for application performance and reliability on the AWS platform

• Experience in aligning application architectures with the requirements and guidelines set by an Application Architecture Board

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value

• Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in Java, Python, AI/ML, and their potential applications on the AWS cloud

• Experience in working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive the adoption of innovative technology solutions on AWS

This senior-level role offers the opportunity to lead the design and architecture of Java and Python-based applications, including AI/ML-powered solutions, on the AWS cloud platform, and drive continuous improvement within Wabtec's technology landscape, while ensuring the implementation of robust application security principles and mechanisms.
