Job Description

The Data Engineer will be part of an innovative Business Intelligence and Sales Tools Team within the VAS COO organization. The candidate is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and workflows that support data collection, storage, and processing. Ensures that data is accessible, reliable, and efficiently processed for analysis. Involves working with big data technologies, creating data pipelines, ingesting 3rd party data, and ensuring data quality and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support data collection, storage, and processing.
  • Deliver complete end-to-end data solutions that meet and exceed business expectations.
  • Monitor and support production data workflows, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Implement data quality checks and proactive exception handling to maintain high data quality and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
  • Build expertise in data engineering and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership.
  • Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
  • Support critical data processes running in production.
  • This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing data pipelines and data workflows, including partnering with global teams that supply or use data.
  • Expert knowledge of big data technologies and data pipeline design, including Hive, Airflow.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or Java.
  • Expertise in creating data-driven business solutions and solving data problems using technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, as well as traditional data technologies like MySQL and RDBMS.
  • Experience engaging directly with stakeholders to understand needs, transform them into concrete data projects, and drive execution and delivery.
  • Strong facilitation and analytical skills with excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Experience working with Sales and marketing teams is a plus, but the ability to work with any nontechnical business team is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way.
