Matillion is launching a Veterans Technology Work Placement Programme designed specifically for service leavers transitioning into civilian tech careers.
Whether you've had exposure to IT, data, or security systems in service, or you're just starting to explore the technology world, we're here to help you take your step.
What the Programme Offers
This 3 - 6 week placement programme offers hands-on exposure and experience across our Data, IT and/or Security teams. You'll work alongside experience professionals on impactful projects, with the support and mentorship you need to succeed with us, and post placement.
Placement Areas and Example Projects
Data (Analytics, Data Governance, Data Engineering)Example Projects: Building analytics dashboards, designing and optimizing data pipelines, and implementing data governance frameworks to enhance data quality and integration.
IT (Service Delivery, IT Governance, Systems Engineering)Example Projects: Supporting cloud migration initiatives, developing IT process improvements, and ensuring robust system uptime through proactive monitoring and service delivery enhancements.
Security (Compliance, Security Operations, Application Security)Example Projects: Conducting vulnerability assessments, drafting and enforcing security policies, and implementing compliance protocols to safeguard our applications and data.

What we're looking for

• A strong passion for technology and the drive and curiosity to learn new skills.
• Leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills developed in military service
• Basic understanding or interest in Data, IT, or Security – experience welcome but not essential
• The ability to adapt to new environments and collaborate across team

Nice-to-have qualifications (Data)

• Experience with SQL and Python
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ThoughtSpot).
• Basic understanding of data governance best practices or certifications like CDMP.
• Understanding of Cloud Data Warehousing (RedShift, Snowflake etc)

Nice-to-have qualifications (IT)

• Experience with ITIL processes or certifications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) or SaaS Applications
• Knowledge of system architecture and network troubleshooting.

Nice-to-have qualifications (Security)

• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC).
• Experience with security tools and scanners.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP).
