Summary: The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for architecting, deploying, and maintaining scalable data solutions on Microsoft Azure that empower analytics and applications across the organization. This role designs end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics, implements data storage on Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and leverages Azure Databricks for large-scale processing. By integrating various Azure services, the Senior Data Engineer accelerates data ingestion, transformation, and delivery to reporting and BI tools. They ensure data quality, security, and governance with Azure Purview and monitor pipeline health with Azure Monitor, enabling stakeholders to access reliable, high-performance data for informed decision-making.
This exempt position will report to the AVP, IT in the Division of Information Technology. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000 (commensurate with related experience).
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
- At least 4-7+ years of similar or related experience is required.
- Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Strong capabilities in strategic data modeling and advanced SQL for data manipulation.
- Expertise in creating visual reports and dashboards with tools like Power BI, integrated with Azure for real-time analytics.
- Experience with Reporting solutions such as Crystal Reports or SSRS.
- Skills in using ETL tools like Azure Data Factory and implementing data governance and security measures within Azure.
- Azure DevOps and/or other ticketing / pipeline tools
