Job Description:

This position supports the Shared Services Analytics team (under Business Decision Support) by performing assigned tasks or assisting with assigned projects, allowing the intern to gain an understanding of the business function. The Shared Services team provides analytic support to many non-clinical functions of the company including Provider Credentialing and Contracting, Education and Simulation, Digital Communications, Marketing, and others.



The intern will help support existing reports and dashboards as well has making minor enhancements or additions to products under the direct supervision of Senior level analysts, the healthcare data advisor, or manager. The intern will have the opportunity to orient with analysts and leaders from various departments and shadow with other teams where possible.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer hardware (pc, mouse, monitor, keyboard).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong research, organizational and analytical skills as well as the ability to teach users.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a graceful and sensitive manner.
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Graduate or upper level undergraduate student in an analytics related field such as data analytics, information systems, computer science, finance, business management, healthcare administration, or economics.
  • Working knowledge of SQL (structured query language), quality improvement principles, and a fundamental knowledge of database design principles.
  • Applied understanding of data visualization design best practices

  • Raise or lower an object from one level to another.
  • Operate IT equipment, tools, and computers requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Transport oneself from place to place.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$16.91 - $23.67
