The Lead Data Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture, and roadmap of mission critical systems. They will provide guidance, solutions, standards, and best practices that will drive the strategic vision of the systems and the company. The position will support our work with assessing and understanding data across key business units of Learning Care Group. The role will be responsible for development and documentation of data acquisition, transformation, and storage activities to support analytics initiatives.

 

Essential Functions/Job Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead hands-on design, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, and development tasks as required in support of current and new projects. 
  • Drive any data engineering needs including requirements gathering, security implementation, data aggregation, data modeling, ETL creation, cleansing, and delivery.
  • Review the work of, or pair program with, other Data Engineers with an eye toward enterprise processes, LCG data patterns and procedures, and engineering best practices. 
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, functional teams, business functions, and system integrators to drive implementations. 
  • Work with Solution Architects to develop proposals and cost estimation of designing and implementing data solutions. 
  • Conduct technical reviews with project teams prior to design and development activities and ensure solutions are scalable, aligned with internal product roadmaps and meet business requirements.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with data security policies and best practices. 
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data models, and processes. 
  • Provide mentorship to other developers. 
  • Complete work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline and 7 or more years’ experience in IT systems analysis and application program development
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering/ETL, data warehouse, or data science
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience (e.g., Tech Lead, Senior Staff Engineer)
  • 5+ Years of extensive hands-on experience & knowledge of Microsoft Azure data tools.

 

Other Skills and Abilities Qualifications:

  • Proficient in programming languages like Python, SQL, and experience with data warehousing tools like Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server
  • Familiarity with data governance principles, data security best practices, and compliance requirements.  
  • Strong conceptual, strategic thinking, problem solving, technical and analytical skills. 
  • Troubleshoot data pipeline issues, optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for performance
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent customer service and follow-up skills with both internal and external customers. 
  • Capable of working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. 
  • Proficient time management, organizational skills, and ability to meet established deadlines. 
  • Should be open to do Hands on development

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid. 
  • Base salary range: $127,000 - $140,000
  • This position is also eligible for our Support Central bonus program which is based on annual achievement of company performance.
