Grade UE07: £40,497 - £48,149 per annum

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: 17 months

 

 

The Opportunity: 

We are looking for an exceptionally talented and motivated data scientist to take up a fully funded position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) as part of a British Heart Foundation Project Grant: “Artificial Intelligence to Improve the Diagnosis of Acute Cardiac Conditions in Clinical Practice,” led by Dr Dimitrios Doudesis.

The post-holder will be responsible for conducting and supporting original research, focusing on the use of health data for the development of clinical decision-support tools in acute cardiovascular care using advanced machine learning techniques, including deep learning.

The salary for this post is £40,497 to £48,149 per annum.

 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • The ability to use mainstream data science programming languages (such as R and Python) for data extraction, transferring and transforming data, and statistical data analysis.
  • Experience in using one or more statistical software packages (e.g. R or similar).
  • Experience working with routinely collected cardiovascular health data.
  • Understanding and/or experience of machine and deep learning (e.g. XGBoost, convolutional neural networks etc.).
  • Flexible, enthusiastic and confident in relating to colleagues of varying levels of seniority.  The ability to work well as part of a team.
