Data Engineering Specialist
Salary: Circa £65,000
 

Are you a data engineering expert with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions and guiding technical teams? We’re looking for a Data Engineering Specialist to provide hands-on technical leadership and delivery oversight across our development and IT Change community. This is a key role in ensuring our data solutions are robust, scalable, and delivered to the highest standards.

A bit about the job:

  • Oversee the development of secure, high-performance ETL solutions aligned with business and architectural goals.

  • Provide expert input across multiple projects and act as a key technical authority within the Data & Analytics Platform (DAP) team.

  • Support and mentor development teams, balancing hands-on involvement with strategic leadership.

  • Ensure production systems run smoothly, including managing defects and emergency fixes.

  • Promote reusable code, shared utilities, and adapt to both Agile and Waterfall methodologies for efficient delivery.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven consultancy experience across ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, and Big Data, with a strong hands-on delivery approach.

  • Skilled in ETL tools, particularly the Informatica suite (PowerCenter, BDM, IICS, IDMC), and experienced with AWS cloud technologies like S3, Glue, and Data Lake.

  • Solid understanding of databases such as Postgres, Oracle, and Snowflake, along with scripting skills in Python and PySpark.

  • Ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into scalable, practical solutions.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing approaches constructively.

  • Salary Circa £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
