Role Description
Main Purpose and Accountability of the Role
Data Analytics (DA) Analysts in Internal Audit (IA) use data-driven techniques to test key controls, identify risks, and generate insights that support audit engagements. They assist audit teams with scoping, testing, reporting, issue validation, and the continuous monitoring of business activities. They may also support tasks assigned by DA Senior Audit Managers (AVPs) or DA Audit Managers (AVPs), such as training colleagues, contributing to innovation or automation projects, and enhancing analytics capabilities or methodologies. DA Audit Analysts bring strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. They take a structured, results-oriented approach, prioritise tasks effectively, and escalate challenges when needed. All work must align with audit methodology and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Audit Delivery and Planning
Responsible for analysing complex datasets and delivering insights that support timely, high-quality audit engagement outcomes within EIA KPIs, with minimal supervision and in line with methodology and QA standards. Specifically:
Understand business processes, risks and controls in scope of an audit, and execute efficient, data-driven strategies to test key controls.
Identify trends, patterns, and insights from large datasets to support audit scoping, issue validation and continuous monitoring.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of the data provided in audit engagements through robust quality practices.
Manage task delivery effectively, meeting deadlines and interim milestones, and document work in accordance with QA standards.
Clearly communicate analytical methods, test steps, and findings to ensure understanding among auditors. Participate in meetings with stakeholders to support discussions and interpretation of analytics results to deliver adequate testing outcomes.
Support audit teams to translate data findings into clear, executive-level issues using active voice, factual messaging and requiring minimal edits by the Auditor in Charge.
Ability to contribute to multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Technical Capability
Demonstrate strong technical and analytical capabilities. Specifically:
3+ years of experience in data analytics, preferably within Financial Services and Internal Audit, or other Risk/ Control function.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret complex data and generate insights that support Audit delivery and conclusions.
Understanding of risk and control environment to evaluate risks and execute effective analytics strategies to test key controls.
Proficiency in SQL, Python or other programming languages used for data analytics.
Proficiency with Alteryx a plus.
Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex data concepts.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organisation and collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Relationships
Support internal audit teams by delivering solutions and identifying data needs. Specifically:
Delivering tailored analytics use cases, and embedding analytics in audit delivery.
Partner with stakeholders to demonstrate how analytics inform audit conclusions.
Help embed the agile framework to enhance stakeholder engagement and enable timely issue identification during audits.
Identify opportunities to contribute beyond audit, including inclusion & diversity roles, thematic reviews, or integrated assurance initiatives.

Performance and Duties
The role holder will be assessed under their employing entity’s performance framework, with input from the dual hatting entity as appropriate. As duties evolve, the job description will be reviewed and updated in consultation with the role holder. They will also perform other duties aligned with the role’s scope, spirit, and purpose, as requested by their line manager or Department Head.
Managing Conflicts of Interest/Dual Hat Status [
The role holder will support both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, and will perform their duties on an entity-neutral basis, without favour. They must meet applicable regulatory requirements to support each business appropriately and maintain the legal integrity of both entities.

The role holder will be required to perform their duties and responsibilities on an entity neutral basis, without favor.
