We currently have an opportunity to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) as an Azure Cloud Engineer and Product Owner for Cloud Services.
This role will be primarily responsible for planning, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and AWS Native services with a specialisation in Azure technologies. This role involves managing the products and services currently under scope of the CCoE and assessing the organisation's IT infrastructure, migrating services to the appropriate cloud when needed, and ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance.
Reporting to the Country IT manager and Head of Infra, the role holder will be part of a global Information technology organisation and will be interacting with the business functional leads and working with people and teams in different countries where Hitachi Rail operates. This is an opportunity to branch out of a local role and work on a more global basis. The role holder will also be working with the Cloud Solution Architect and Multi-cloud Enterprise Architect to ensure that the organisations cloud strategy is executed.
This role can work from anywhere globally, although working on either a North American or European time zone would be advantageous. There may also be some international travel on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
This role requires a hands-on person who will drive the execution of our cloud strategy from requirement through to finished production product. Able to work with different levels of the organisation and understand verbal requirements to take through development iterations into a finished output.
- CCoE team development: Be pivotal in designing and implementing the CCoE team and ensuring their continuous development and evolution ensuring we remain abreast of current cloud capabilities
- Migration Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to assess current infrastructure and determine the best Cloud migration strategy.
- Infrastructure Deployment: Set up and configure Azure resources, including virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking components.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Optimization and Automation: Monitor resource usage and performance, develop automation scripts, and use infrastructure as code (IaC) templates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the CCoE team including Multi Cloud Architect, Cloud Solution Architect, Engineering Dev/Ops engineers, FinOps specialist and 3rd party specialists to integrate advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities into Azure cloud solutions
Technical Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Product Owner for Cloud services
- Detailed technical understanding of the Azure cloud platform
- Technical understanding of other cloud platform providers
- Excellent experience with Microsoft Azure, including design, deployment, configuration, and optimization
- Experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Perl, Python, and PowerShell
- Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Azure CLI, Puppet, and Ansible
- Ability to be able to deliver training material, process briefings, requirements capture, etc. to small and large audiences
- Prior experience and involvement in business transformation or integration activities
- Strong understanding of Azure cloud architecture and services
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and ServiceNow
Human skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage the business in cloud topics and to translate to business speak
- An understanding of various business needs and ability to learn our specific business quickly
- Be able to engage and work with people
- Be able to work to tight deadlines
- Be a positive influence on the team and your stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
What to expect
We will complete a two-stage interview process that will focus separately on technical and behavioural competencies. You will be asked to give a presentation as part of the technical interview.
