Job Description

Avery Dennison Solutions Group is seeking a Master Data Governance Lead to drive the design, implementation, and enforcement of data governance policies. This role ensures the quality, consistency, and integrity of master data across the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the data roadmap, supporting data stewards, and leading the data council to uphold best practices. As a dedicated data leader, this position holds end-to-end accountability for all data quality-related issues within the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Governance Leadership:

    • Define, develop, and enforce master data governance policies and standards.

    • Establish frameworks and procedures for managing data governance across the business units.

    • Host and manage the Data Governance Council to align stakeholders on data-related decisions.

  2. Data Quality Management:

    • Take ownership of all data quality issues, ensuring continuous monitoring, improvement, and issue resolution.

    • Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, and IT teams to implement solutions to data inconsistencies.

    • Track and report data quality KPIs and metrics to senior leadership.

  3. Support and Enable Data Stewards:

    • Guide and mentor data stewards across different business functions to ensure proper data handling and management practices.

    • Provide ongoing training and support to ensure compliance with governance standards.

  4. Data Strategy and Roadmap:

    • Develop and maintain a data roadmap that aligns with business needs and evolving industry trends.

    • Partner with business and IT teams to ensure data governance initiatives are embedded within key projects and processes.

  5. Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with product management, supply chain, finance, IT, and other departments to ensure consistent data management practices.

    • Ensure data governance aligns with broader business strategies, especially in product lifecycle management and ERP implementations.

  6. Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory data requirements and internal policies.

    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with data inconsistencies or non-compliance.

  7. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Communicate data governance policies, strategies, and results effectively to all stakeholders.

    • Lead change management efforts related to data governance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.

  • Expertise in master data management (MDM) tools and ERP systems (Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion).

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, and processes.

  • Proven leadership skills, including experience managing data councils or cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to define and analyze data quality metrics and drive continuous improvement.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOX) related to data governance is preferred.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $126,750 - $169,000/ year.

The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
