As the Data Science lead of the Price team, you can have a direct impact on the algorithms that govern the interaction of millions of our daily users and hundreds of our booking sites in real time. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading and building a new team of data scientists working on the design, implementation, and improvement of our price caching algorithms, price change prediction models, and dynamic pricing algorithms. Typical problems lie at the intersection of experimental design, statistics, machine learning, and sequential decision analytics/dynamic optimization. How you’ll make an impact:

• Lead, mentor, and empower the team of Data Scientists in their professional development, offering guidance and feedback on their work
• Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and data engineers to solve complex problems and explore new business opportunities
• Drive innovation by developing and implementing advanced data-driven solutions that align business priorities with technical feasibility
• Establish new evaluation metrics and simulation techniques to improve the assessment of test performances and long-term impacts
• Communicate results and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What you'll need to thrive:

• 5+ years’ practical experience in data science, machine learning, or applied science roles
• 2+ years of formal leadership experience managing data science teams
• Advanced academic background (MSc or PhD) in optimization, machine learning, economics, statistics, or related fields, with a solid understanding of software engineering
• Expertise in machine learning, and specialized knowledge in stochastic optimization, reinforcement learning, dynamic pricing or a related field
• Deep knowledge of statistical concepts and experience with experimental design
• Entrepreneurial mindset with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment, balancing cutting-edge research with pragmatism for real-world impact
• Proficient communication skills, comfortable presenting ideas and findings to varied audiences
• Expertise in Python or R (including relevant libraries), solid SQL skills, and experience with Cloud computing services

Stand out with: 

• Knowledge in sequential decision analytics and modeling
• Expertise in dynamic pricing strategies
• Proficiency in time series models / state-space models
• Experience in dynamic caching technologies
• A PhD in a quantitative field
