Python Data Engineer

We're looking for a Data Engineer with a Software Engineering background to join our Data Collection team at Happening, the tech engine of Superbet. Your mission: help us collect and process massive real-time event data and internal observability data, enabling product and engineering teams to make fast, data-informed decisions. You’ll work with Python, Kafka, Airflow, and Snowflake—handling everything from ingestion endpoints to lightweight database modeling.

This role is critical to evolving our data infrastructure and scaling the capabilities of our platform to enable fast, self-service data access for all departments.

What You'll Be Doing

• End-to-end data ownership: From ingestion to transformation, manage full lifecycle of data handling from frontend event triggers through Kafka, to Snowflake and back to dashboards.
• Build and maintain pipelines: Develop scalable Python services and Airflow DAGs that handle real-time and batch data streams, with 500M+ events per day.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to embed data collection best practices and educate teams on how to leverage data effectively.
• Develop internal observability tools: Help collect internal metrics like release times, performance stats, and CI/CD metadata that help engineering teams move faster.
• Migration & maintenance: Support structural migrations, and improve internal schemas and data quality with lightweight modeling and QA checks.
• Proactively improve systems: Spot bottlenecks, propose better structures, and help evolve our tech stack to keep up with scale and complexity.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Skills

• Solid software engineering background (you know how systems talk to each other, not just how data sits).
• Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of Kafka, Airflow, and SQL.
• Experience with Snowflake or other analytical warehouses.
• Understanding of both real-time data ingestion and batch processing.
• Ability to implement data ingestion endpoints and lightweight transformations.
• Comfortable owning features end-to-end and proposing new ideas independently.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with software engineering principles around CI/CD, APIs, and microservices.
• Exposure to data quality frameworks, volume checks, or analytics QA.
• Comfortable discussing frontend/backend integrations.
• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
