The Data Engineering Lead will be part of Trivium’s Data Centre of Excellence, a centralized group of data teams focused on the development and maintenance of the company’s Azure data platform infrastructure, as well as the development of new data products used for analytics and reporting. As the tech lead for the core data platform and data solutions pods, they will lead by example, actively engaging in challenging new requests and incidents hands-on. They will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology vision for the data platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and future needs. Additionally, they will oversee the Core Data Platform team’s backlog, prioritizing tasks appropriately and synchronizing development efforts. Responsibilities • Act as the tech lead for the Azure Data Platform, understanding the needs of business stakeholders and end-users. • Define and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility. • Lead and mentor all Data CoE engineers to efficient and impactful sprints. • Together with the Data Solutions Architect and Data Governance Lead, provide guidance and steering on data modeling, architecture, and Azure data services. • Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and balanced for performance and value. • Stay up-to-date with the latest data technologies and trends, recommending and implementing improvements and innovations. Education & Experience required • University degree in a STEM field. • Proven experience as a software, data or ML engineer, technical product manager or similar role in a data-driven environment. • Proactive mindset and high accountability. • Consistently display pragmatic, clear and precise communication. • Strong organisation and prioritization skills with knowledge of relevant frameworks. • Expertise in building and managing large-scale data platforms. (Azure/AWS/GCP) • Designing pipelines with tools like Airflow, dbt, ARA or similar. • Familiarity with data modeling and data architecture (star/snowflake schemas, partitioning, indexing). • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps). • Experience with open-source tools for data engineering workloads is preferred but not required.
