The opportunity

The Strategic Pricing & Insights (SPI) group leads our firm's commercial transformation, optimizing our price-to-value ratio for opportunities, architecting differentiated commercial structures, and integrating market and competitor intelligence into our messaging to enhance win odds and expand margins. We are part of the Pursuits & Commercial Excellence team.

 

As a Commercial Architect – Assistant Director within the Pricing & Contract Management team, aligned to the Strategic Pricing and Insights Group at GDS, we are looking for a highly skilled and analytical professional to drive data-driven decision-making in a global pricing and commercial strategy environment. This role requires a passionate data analyst who can transform complex datasets into actionable insights, supporting key business objectives.

The position encompasses business analysis, requirements gathering, data modeling, solution design, and visualization using modern tools. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing analytics solutions, ensuring data accuracy, and optimizing workflows to improve efficiency. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enabling informed strategic decisions.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead data analytics initiatives to enhance benchmarking and commercial pricing strategies.
  • Optimize core data processes and offshore key benchmarking functions to improve efficiency.
  • Analyze complex global EY data to uncover trends and generate actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams for seamless knowledge transfer and high-quality analytics.
  • Perform data cleaning, modeling, validation, and statistical analysis to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain reports and dashboards using Excel and Power BI.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency through data-driven recommendations.
  • Communicate complex findings in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strengthen analytical capabilities that support commercial deals and frameworks, enhancing client engagement outcomes.

 

Skills and attributes for success         

  • Proven experience as a data analyst, business analyst, data engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present large datasets accurately.
  • Foundational knowledge of statistics, including concepts like distributions, variance, and correlation.
  • Skilled in documenting processes and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI for designing, developing, and maintaining analytics solutions.
  • Proficient in both Python and SQL, with strong programming and scripting skills.
  • Skilled in using Pandas, T-SQL, and Power Query M for querying, transforming, and cleaning data.
  • Hands-on experience in data modeling for both transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) database systems.
  • Strong visualization skills using Power BI and Python libraries such as Matplotlib and Seaborn.
  • Experience with defining and designing KPIs and aligning data insights with business goals.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 8+ years of experience experience in data analysis, data engineering, or a closely related field, ideally within a professional services enviornment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field relevant to data analysis, data engineering, or data science is required. Examples include (but are not limited to) computer science, statistics, data analytics, artificial intelligence, operations research, or econometrics.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Strong pursuit management, relationship management, executive presence and influencing skills.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • High proficiency at collaborating, managing conflicting interests and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Be highly flexible, adaptable, and creative.
  • Strong leadership skills and supervisory responsibility.
  • Ability to travel.
