Shift: Days (8am - 4:30pm)

Monday - Friday

General Summary

Responsible for enhancing precision medicine delivery through efficient analyses of genomic data, accelerating research and development through streamlined data processes, fast-tracking discovery and validation of new genetic markers, and improving genomic data integration through cutting- edge statistical methods. This position requires the soft skill of story-telling through data, by turning technical information into easy-to-understand non-technical action items.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for genomic data analysis.
  • Perform quality control, alignment, variant calling, and annotation of sequencing data.
  • Accesses data from third-party vendor tools.
  • Utilize advanced statistical techniques to identify and validate genetic associations.
  • Collaborate on the development of predictive models for disease risk and treatment response.
  • Develop and manage databases and data warehouses for large-scale genomic datasets.
  • Implement data integration solutions to combine genomic data with clinical and phenotypic information.
  • Applies appropriate techniques and programming languages (e.g. R, Python, SQL) to identify patterns and trends. Provide interpretation of results to stakeholders, applying visualization techniques (e.g. Microsoft Power BI) as needed.
  • Integrate new methodologies to improve existing workflows and analytical capabilities.
  • Works with the Precision Medicine team to ensure best practice standards in the area of genomic analysis.
  • Work closely with geneticists, clinicians, and data scientists to interpret results.
  • Contribute to research projects, grants, and publications.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Masters Degree Computational Biology, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields. Required
  • Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Data Analytics or Data Science within a healthcare organization Required
  • Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or Computer science or related field Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with statistical software and tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS) and data analysis visualization tools (e.g., R Shiny, MATLAB)
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Extensive experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis.
  • Knowledge of genomic databases and resources.
  • Proficient with Genome GPS, Pickard, Hail, GWAS tools, PheWAS tools
  • Expertise in data modeling, and implementation of data pipelines for analysis.
  • Experience with developing research data enclaves and lifecycle management.
  • Confidence in presentation of findings and excellent communication skills are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and integrity.
  • Experience with cloud computing and distributed compute platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Terra Verily) preferred.
