Lead Data Scientist

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Data Scientist who could also lead our Insights team. You will help deliver actionable insights to end-users and utility clients—while also driving team delivery, coaching engineers, and aligning with product and business stakeholders. 

This is a hybrid role, combining deep individual contributions in modelling and analytics with team management responsibilities.

What you’ll do

• Design, implement, test and deploy robust machine learning models for use cases like energy forecasting, peer comparisons, disaggregation, and carbon impact

• Write clean, well-documented and production-ready code

• Work directly with product managers and engineers to scope and deliver ML-powered features for end users and utility clients

• Monitor model performance and iterate to improve accuracy, relevance and impact

• Contribute to and help shape the team’s technical standards, experimentation practices, and deployment workflows

• Provide mentoring and gradually grow into a leadership role, helping guide team goals and development

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science roles

• Deep proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with ML pipelines and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Databricks)

• Proven track record of designing and deploying production-grade ML models

• Ability to translate business needs into practical data solutions

• Interest or experience in energy data, time-series modelling or forecasting is a plus

• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• 2-3 years of experience as a people manager is highly desirable
