Power Delivery Data Analyst

The Power Delivery Data Analyst will be responsible for performing detailed data analysis, data requirements, and creating visually compelling data visualizations. This also includes increasing data quality, compliance, and governance. Additional responsibilities include consulting with Power Delivery partners on needs, translating business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, and interfacing with the Power Delivery partners to build custom business intelligence solutions. The analyst will analyze and troubleshoot issues that arise within Power BI and analytics toolsets and the enterprise infrastructure supporting these solutions.

 

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. 

Experience

  • Two or more years of professional IT experience preferred
  • Experience managing data and analytics preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, competitive information technology organization

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge for data analytic & reporting solutions. Including but not limited to the following:
    • SQL Server, Oracle, HDFS (Cloudera Hadoop), and other on-premise and cloud-based data and information management systems
    • Advanced Analytics Tools like Azure, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate), Tableau, Excel, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deep dive into data to find problems or trends.
  • Manage, organize, and clean data effectively and efficiently while reducing manual reporting and data redundancy.
  • Highly versed in analytic methodologies and modeling.
  • Understand the difference between data and information with the ability to articulate it through verbal and no verbal means.
  • Use data visualization skills and tools to analyze, package, and communicate reports to the business partners.
  • Strategic understanding of data infrastructure, including on-prem and cloud data storage, retrieval, governance, reporting and cataloging preferred. 
  • Experience operating and working in an agile project management environment. 
  • Superior written and oral communication, to successfully interpret technical issues and communicate them in a clear, logical and concise manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required to plan and manage assigned workload and customer expectations effectively to meet business unit requirements.
  • Ability and determination to support multiple projects under tight deadlines

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually compelling data visualizations.
  • Write efficient queries to extract, transform, and manipulate data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data visualizations that meet business needs.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all visualizations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in data visualization and analytics.
  • Represent Mississippi Power and successfully work with the Power Delivery Data Analytics organization that identifies, aggregates, analyzes, develops, and deploys data to drive comprehensive data and analytics efforts across Southern Company.
  • Work with external data and product vendors that provide enabling technologies in data storage, data development and data analytics.
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure Company data remains “company property” and is safely and securely handled to avoid data leaks or data breaches.
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure that Company data meets regulatory and compliance requirements. 
  • Organize and drive successful completion of data insights and projects through effective collaboration of team members and effective collaboration with key stakeholders. 
  • Work with the department to build, develop and maintain models, reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics for key initiatives. 
  • Serve in assigned disaster response role as determined by supervisor or manager.
