The Engineering cluster in SP takes the lead in educating engineering technologists to support the nation’s growth and development.
Reporting to the Project Leader, the appointee will be part of the project team in the Robotics & Automation co-location lab within the Engineering cluster. The Robotics & Automation co-location lab aims to develop automation and robotics solutions to meet the emerging industry 4.0 needs for the manufacturing industry in Singapore.
[What you will be working on]
The appointee will be responsible for the development of innovative solutions for industrial partners in the area of robotics and manufacturing applications, and will be expected to support various administrative tasks, which includes dealing with procurement, coordinating and assisting Project Leader in various aspects of the project.
Responsibilities:-
- Design and develop practical robotic systems and automation solutions for industry partners
- Lead applied research projects in collaboration with industry partners and local SMEs
- Guide and mentor students in robotics and automation projects
- Develop industry-relevant technical solutions using robotics, IoT, and automation technologies
- Create proof-of-concept prototypes and conduct demonstration projects
- Support technology translation from concept to implementation
- Lead business outreach efforts to identify and secure industry collaboration projects
- Develop project proposals and budgets for government grants and industry funding
- Engage with industry partners to understand their automation needs
- Present technical solutions to potential industry partners
- Support Engineering clusters’ technology showcase events and industry engagement activities
- Maintain and upgrade the Robotics and Automation co-lab facilities
- Provide technical consultation to industry partners
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:-
- Relevant Qualification in Computer/Electronics/Mechanical/ Mechatronics Engineering
- Preferably 3 years of relevant working experience in industrial robotics and automation systems (e.g. ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots)
- Familiar with industrial IoT platforms, machine vision systems, AI and deep learning frameworks
- Knowledge of programming skills such as Python, C++ and ROS (Robot Operating System)
- Experience with PLC programming, industrial automation systems and protocols
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and applications
- Understanding of local manufacturing industry needs
- Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
- Self-driven, possess strong problem-solving abilities and good communication skills
- Understanding of local industry grant schemes and funding mechanisms, with experience in writing grant proposals
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
