The Derivatives Operations team is looking for a Senior Investment Analyst - Derivatives Operations Data Analyst. A background in SQL queries and strong excel skills are preferred. Any experience with the tools Xcepter or DataIKU is a plus.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Columbus, OH location. The team comes into the office at least 3 days a week.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.  Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

The Derivatives Operations - Senior Investment Analyst role is responsible for operational processes supporting portfolios managed by Nationwide Investments. This position is responsible for performing and reviewing variety of complex operational functions with a focus on daily counterparty confirmation and settlement, transaction processing, bank cash and counterparty reconciliations, and collateral and margin management for Derivatives portfolios.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Works closely with front office, operational, technology and controllership teams to support various complex operational processes in order to ensure timely, accurate and efficient flow of derivatives transactions.

  • Support operational projects, process improvement opportunities, and application upgrade testing. Partner with Investments Technology on supporting tactical projects.

  • Assist with the processing of new trades, transactions, and reports to ensure data quality for trading systems and subsequent downstream accounting and reporting.

  • Support and/or lead the review of daily trading blotters identifying trade discrepancies.

  • Assist with the review of daily cash processing, forecasting reports for calls, margin and various derivative payments.

  • Support the Data Management and Reporting team on assigned reporting tasks, as well as completes and maintains critical reporting, including, but not limited to, Derivative Trade Packets, Daily Transaction Reporting, Trade Authorization limits, participates in Monthly Pricing and Valuation processes, as assigned.

  • Support the review of system reconciliations and maintains proper documentation for assigned core trading systems, including timely research of exception items.

  • Recommend changes to enhance, build or improve existing controls and procedures using Continuous Improvement methods.

  • Support internal/external audit engagements, regulatory inquiries, and derivative Financial Reporting Controls.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.  

Reporting Relationships:  Derivatives Operations - Investment Professional or Senior Investment Professional

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or an equivalent field.

Experience:  4 to 7 years of experience in Investment Operations, Business Intelligence Reporting, Investment Accounting, or Financial Service industries

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Intermediate understanding of Derivative Instruments

  • Intermediate understanding of data and data flow

  • Conceptual understanding of end-to-end investments process flows

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
