A Data Engineer we are looking for will design, develop, and implement cloud-based data and analytics platforms (DAP) and pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data. This role involves assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements. In collaboration with data asset managers and architects, you will ensure that the technical solution delivers data that is fit for use and aligned with architectural blueprints. The position also requires adherence to coding standards and best practices to ensure the development of efficient and reusable services and components.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinating with key users and business process experts to understand requirements and business objectives, and translating them into technical design specifications for an end-to-end data architecture.

Building robust data ETL pipelines to capture and transform data from different data sources, and creating data models that can be used for further data analysis.

Building CI/CD pipelines to deliver production-ready and high-quality code quickly and efficiently.

Creating standard reports to aid business users in data analysis.

Ensuring operational excellence by resolving incidents and problems, and proactively identifying issues (e.g. performance and data quality issues) and opportunity areas (e.g. automation, optimization).

Communicating project and operations status, and creating clarity on issues and help needed to key stakeholders.

Writing technical documentation in the form of manuals, proposals, guidelines, architecture diagrams, etc.

Job Qualifications

We are looking for someone who meets the following:

Work experience in a similar or related role (e.g. software development, data engineering, data science, big data analytics, distributed systems).

Excellent software engineering and problem solving skills.

Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (preferably Python or PySpark).

Demonstrable experience with modern data architecture and cloud technologies (preferably Microsoft Azure), and capability to rapidly onboard and apply emerging solutions.

Hands-on experience in developing data ETL pipelines.

Good understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, ETL tools and processes, REST-oriented APIs, BI reporting (e.g. PowerBI).

Experience in agile software development, DevOps framework, and design thinking methodologies is preferred.

Demonstrates a balance of strategic business acumen and strong technical expertise.

Ability to apply project management fundamentals to keep work on track against dimensions of scope, quality, cost and schedule.

Ability to engage with other managers on technology decision discussions related to business value and end-to-end IT product lifecycle.

Comfortable working with a global and cross-functional team of different backgrounds and expertise.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, a Master’s degree is a plus.
