Your New Role…

CNN is seeking a Senior Manager of Audience Analytics who will be instrumental in overseeing audience reporting and analysis across CNN digital. This individual should be self-motivated, work well independently and as part of a team, and be passionate about what they do. They will be responsible for creating actionable insights and for leading a team to do the same, including analyzing  content & user trends both on and off-platform, creating and maintain key dashboards, and benchmarking/forecasting performance on a regular basis. The Senior Manager will be a core member of the data analytics team and report to the Vice President of Audience and Engagement Analytics. 

Your Role Accountabilities... 

The Senior Manager of Audience Analytics will 

  • Produce best-in-class actionable insights around the CNN user across platforms, uncovering and presenting new analyses and findings for the business to act on.  
  • Manage a small team of analysts who partner with cross-functional leaders in the editorial, product, and research space.  
  • Refine existing audience performance reporting mechanisms, utilizing first and third-party data sources to track performance trends.  
  • Manage long-range traffic forecasting efforts, partnering with multiple stakeholder teams to ensure alignment.  
  • Partner with other analytics teams to provide a holistic view of CNN for leadership. 

Qualifications & Experience... 

  • 5+ years in audience, growth, or product analytics working as a lead or senior contributor. 
  • Strong working knowledge of digital and social analytics: creating comprehensive reports around onsite and off-platform performance and using analytics and data storytelling skills to turn these into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Experience in forecasting (e.g. linear regression models). 
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with cross-functional leaders, particularly in audience and editorial contexts. 
  • Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver complex messages to diverse audiences. 
  • Expertise in using SQL to explore and analyze large data sets. 
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Domo, Tableau, etc.).

  • Comfortable communicating with a diverse set of backgrounds, seniority levels, and knowledge sets, particularly in translating complex data concepts to strategic recommendations 
  • Logical mindset capable of making appropriate trade-offs between speed and analytical depth without sacrificing quality 
  • A self-starter who is passionate about getting data, using data, making sense of data, and helping others benefit from making analytics driven decisions 

Nice-to-Haves 

  • BA/BS degree or higher in Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative field 
  • Experience with social analytics tools (e.g. Rival IQ, Tubular, etc…) or other third-party audience insights tools (e.g. comScore, Similarweb) strongly preferred. 
  • Experience building and leading a small team of analysts preferred. 
  • Experience with digital news or relevant digital analytics experience plus strong interest in news. 
  • Experience with data science programming languages like Python and R.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $99,981.00 - $185,679.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
