Subject Matter Expert (m/f/d) for the production of the online course: Data Base Management Tools in Python

(Teaching Period: Fall Semester 2025; Freelance / freiberuflicher Honorarvertrag, 5 ECTS)

Teaching Workload: 5 ECTS, 28 sessions of 75 minutes each

Degree level: Bachelor

Location: remote

What we expect:

  • Prepare the entire asynchronous online course (Module Component) referencing the below outline of the course content and any existing course material, adhering to the contractual deadlines

  • The preparation includes the materials for the final exam and makeup exam (online exams in Learning Management System), which is to be composed of 50% questions, 50% implementation tasks in Python

  • Align course materials with Quality Assurance standards for online teaching as defined by Constructor University

  • Meet regularly with Digital Education Unit staff to ideate and develop materials, including multimedia production

  • Review and approve final build of module and assessments (by DEU staff) in the learning management system

  • Show tolerance and openness suited to working in an international and diverse environment

The content you will develop comprises:

  • Throughout the module, describe methodologies to collect, store, process and provision data from an application-oriented viewpoint using suitable examples based on python data science libraries

  • For all course parts, hands-on material (e.g. Jupyter notebooks) is to be created

  • Introduce data structures and fundamental algorithms (sorting, slicing, …); basic numerical and data analysis tasks shall use e.g. NumPy/SciPy

  • Introduce relational databases and SQL to define databases, insert, store, retrieve data etc

  • Explain and apply python pandas for data management and processing/analysis

  • Execute basic data analysis tasks in the different tools (average, min, max, ...)

  • Introduce sensible examples showing best practices for basic data visualization scenarios using different types of 2D plots in Matplotlib and seaborn

Your qualifications:

  • Master´s degree, preferably a Ph.D., related to the field of teaching.

  • First experience in teaching with the respective subject field.

  • Fluent in written and verbal English, the language of instruction and communication on campus.
