Introduction:

We are looking for a strategic and impact-driven Senior Data Engineer to join our growing data organization at Peter Park. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building robust, scalable data infrastructure that powers our analytics, data science, and product development efforts.
You will work closely with our CTO and Head of Product (Ph.D. in Data Science) as well as stakeholders from engineering, analytics, sales, and CRM to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and actionable across the company. Your work will enable data-driven decision-making and innovation by developing and maintaining high-quality data pipelines, real-time processing systems, and data platform architecture that support our business growth and product roadmap. If you are ready to shape the future of Peter Park through Data, come be a part of our team!

Our Objectives and your Role:

  • You build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that support analytics, BI, and machine learning across the company.
  • You develop and manage a clean data layer that powers BI tools and enables and streamlines self-service reporting.
  • You analyze large datasets to uncover trends and anomalies, developing hypotheses to drive revenue growth and identify new opportunities.
  • You work with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to ensure the right data is modelled and accessible.
  • You architect and optimise our data infrastructure (e.g., data warehouse, orchestration tools) to support both real-time and batch processing at scale.
  • You ensure data quality, lineage, and access control through monitoring and governance practices.
  • You stay current with data engineering advancements, incorporating cutting-edge techniques into analytics and products.
  • You collaborate across teams, lead in data engineering best practices, and mentor team members for continuous improvement.

Your Expertise, Skills & Mindset:

  • You show real seniority in data engineering with real-world data. This seniority is not defined by years of experience but by striving for continuous improvement, direct impact on the business, and ownership.
  • You have a degree in a relevant field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • You strive for a deep understanding of data and underlying processes. You have strong problem-solving skills and a keen analytical mindset.
  • You have proven experience in designing and building scalable data pipelines, data models, and platform components to support analytics and reporting.
  • You are highly skilled in Python and SQL, have a strong grasp of data engineering libraries and frameworks (e.g., PySpark, SQLAlchemy), and understand how to optimize data systems for reliability, performance, and usability.
  • You have hands-on experience with cloud platforms, modern data warehouses, and NoSQL databases. Experience with Amazon Redshift is a plus.
  • You are familiar with orchestration and transformation tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt), and are comfortable working with BI platforms like Tableau.
  • You work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • You have excellent written and spoken English skills (level C1).
