Senior Data Operations Engineer – Remote

As a Senior Data Operations Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and implement Convera’s enterprise data architecture strategy.  Your work will be instrumental in designing and implementing algorithms, building robust data pipelines, and fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and technical expertise.

In your role as a Senior Data Operations Engineer, you will:

  • Partnering with Engineering team members, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and customer-facing teams to understand complex data use cases and business logic
  • Building foundational pieces of our data platform architecture, pipelines, analytics, and services underlying our platform
  • Architecting and developing reliable data pipelines that transform data at scale, orchestrated jobs via Airflow, using SQL and Python in Snowflake
  • Contributing to python packages in Gitlab and APIs, using current best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data engineering, architecture or data governance, or a related field.
  • Expert Level Python
  • Advance SQL – performance tuning, query optimization, window functions, CTEs 
  • Deep understanding of data governance, lineage, schema evolution, and metadata management.
  • Proven ability to build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines with Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data services: S3, Glue, EKS, Redshift, Lambda.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience mentoring technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
