The Business Data Product Owner serves as a pivotal link between business needs and technical solutions, focusing on managing data as a strategic asset across the enterprise. This role involves overseeing specific data domains and ensuring that data products within these domains align with company objectives and deliver actionable insights. The Business Data Product Owner is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data domains/products, from data analysis and profiling to strategy development and implementation, ensuring they drive business value and scalability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Data Domain and Product Management

  • Take ownership of specific data domains, understanding their role within the broader enterprise architecture and ensuring their alignment with business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the data within these domains, including its sources, structures, and interrelationships.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the data program to assist in defining domain-specific data governance policies, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Define and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for data products within the domain, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, focusing on delivering features that provide the highest business value.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other technical teams to design and develop scalable data solutions.

Data Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive data profiling and analysis to assess the quality, completeness, and potential use of existing and new datasets within the domain.
  • Quickly evaluate data sets to determine their suitability for addressing business objectives, identifying gaps, and proposing solutions to enhance data utility.
  • Utilize data analytics and visualization tools to interpret trends and patterns, providing insights that inform business decisions.

General

  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, effectively translating business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Present proposals, findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for data initiatives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure data products meet diverse business needs and promote data-driven processes and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline data-related processes, enhance data workflows, and optimize systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Advocate for and implement best practices in data management, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Evaluate risks associated with data products and propose strategies to mitigate potential issues, ensuring stability and resilience of data solutions.
  • Performs compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business/Finance, or similar field required or related equivalent professional experience.
  • Handles pressure in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various applications and tools, including the Microsoft Office suite of products, spreadsheets, word processing, database, email, networking, development tools/languages, Internet applications and collaboration tools such as SharePoint and OneNote.
  • Strong attention to process improvement to ensure scale and efficiency.
  • Can navigate between details and high-level concepts while managing distractions and staying focused on the most valuable work.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative; ability to work well both independently and with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate with and work effectively with diverse groups of people, managing conflict and negotiating for results when needed.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to analyze, synthesize and articulate complex ideas to multiple levels of the organization; technical writing skills as needed for documentation.
  • Preferred experience working in the financial services industry.

  • Power Platform:

Power BI

  • Intermediate to advanced data modeling and data visualization experience
  • Familiar with DAX and Power Query
  • Power BI Service/Fabric

Power Automate

  • Understands use cases and what is possible. Created and managed flows in production environment.

Power Apps

  • Understands use cases and what is possible. Created and managed apps in production environment.

Compensation: $35.12 - $52.67 per hour 

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Spokane, WA. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is also eligible to participate in an applicable annual bonus.
