Visualization as a Service Lead

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Sev1Tech is seeking an experienced Visualization as a Service Lead with data science and project management expertise for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The ideal candidate will have advance expertise in tools and methods including statistics, algorithmic techniques, probabilistic models, and data analysis. This role requires advanced skills in data science, machine learning, and inferencing to uncover insights that drive actions to support CISA’s mission to lead the national effort to understand, manage, and reduce risk to our cyber and physical infrastructure. This role also supports program and project management to include reporting progress and activities in all task areas, coordinating and reporting on project work as directed by the Government project managers and leads, conducting kick-off meetings, and performing transition in/out activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and optimize statistical models to analyze structured and unstructured datasets.
• Use appropriate statistical techniques to extract insights and inform strategic decision-making.
• Design and implement algorithmic solutions tailored to DHS requirements, focusing on regression, text analytics, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection. Evaluate and measure the impact of the data science solution.
• Implement MLOps practices to ensure seamless deployment, monitor, and retraining to ensure models are robust, scalable, and aligned with DHS’s mission.
• Continuously enhance data quality across multiple dimensions such as accuracy, availability, performance, and accessibility.
• Translate complex data into actionable intelligence by applying theories from mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Conduct inferencing to derive hidden patterns and relationships within data.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to provide data-driven insights and recommendations that support DHS’s strategic priorities, policies, and response plans.
• Work with various data sources, ensuring quality, integrity, and integration across multiple datasets. Utilize tools to preprocess, clean, and organize data effectively.
• Create and maintain documentation for developed machine learning models.
• Provide end-to-end program leadership from planning to business readiness/rollout.
• Identify strategic milestones in concert with business and/or mission stakeholders and tie work packages to milestones.
• Work in a program coordination / senior project management capacity.
• Communicate and manage project status to internal project teams and those at the executive level.
• Set and continually manages expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolvee and/or escalates roadblocks, issues, and conflicts within the team promptly. Shields the team from interruptions.
• Leverage stakeholder relationships and technical expertise to enable or make critical decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. Ph.D. preferred.
• Proven experience in data science, statistics, and algorithmic modeling, preferably in a governmental or highly regulated environment.
• Proven experience in the entire data science development life cycle. Emphasis on feature engineering and MLOps.
• Proven experience building and deploying models from scratch, along with enhancing existing machine learning models.
• Proficient in programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala, SQL) and data science libraries.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, probability theory, and inferencing techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Experience with cloud ML solutions.
• Ability to work with sensitive data, uphold data privacy, and adhere to security protocols.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies and solution architectures from leading vendors such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
• Experience managing projects using traditional and agile methodologies, with a focus on multi-cloud platforms, including integration, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery, with excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
• Technical knowledge of IT operations and infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud technologies.
• Comfortable with drafting and presenting executive-level briefings.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

This is a full-time position that requires 2 days per week on-site in Arlington, VA

Desired Qualifications

Clearance Preference:

• DHS EOD - 1st priority
• Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret or Secret - 2nd choice
• DoD Secret or Top Secret + willingness to get EOD clearance - 3rd choice (it can take 45 days to obtain EOD clearance – work can only begin once the clearance is fully adjudicated)
