The Data Governance Lead will be part of Trivium’s Data Centre of Excellence, a centralized group of data teams focused on the development and maintenance of the company’s Azure data platform infrastructure, as well as the development of new data products used for analytics and reporting. The role incumbent will implement a strong framework to ensure integrity, quality, and usability of our data assets while aligning with senior executives and diverse business objectives. The job holder will also collaborate cross-functionally to establish data policies, standards, and processes that drive data quality and accountability across the organization. The focus for Data Governance will be to improve data quality via diverse objectives such as expanding and maintaining the network of decentral data governance agents (data stewards, domain owners and business owners), as well as monitoring the structure and metadata of all data assets in our datalake, and potential new data sources and entities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Define and enforce data ownership, data quality, and data stewardship roles and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and business teams to ensure data governance aligns with organizational goals.
- Monitor and report on data quality metrics, identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.
- Lead the implementation of data governance tools and technologies (e.g., data catalogs, metadata management).
- Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on data governance best practices.
Education and Experience:
- No formal education required, but STEM degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
- Experience in change management practices and methodologies.
- Expertise in data quality management and data stewardship practices.
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Unity Catalog, Purview).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience in companies with decentralized operations in many countries.
- Knowledge of master data management (MDM) and metadata management.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
- Certification in data governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP).
- Hands-on experience in data or analytics engineering.
