Internship in Advanced Techniques for 6G Integrated Sensing and Communications

Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

The Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) is responsible for research activities towards the definition and development of mobile network technologies and communication systems for vertical industries. AWTL has been engaging with multiple research and standardization activities, including participating to European Commission funded research projects of Horizon 2020 framework, contributing to industrial communication fora as 5G-AA, 5G-ACIA, transferring technologies to standardization bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, NGMN, and developing in-house experimental platforms, prototypes and proof of concepts on wireless and networking technologies. Recently, AWTL focus has shifted to next generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies, towards 2030.

Student Intern: Advanced Techniques for 6G Integrated Sensing and Communications

Your mission

We expect the candidate to be enthusiastic, highly motivated and passionate about wireless communications, sensing and localization. Your work will be supervised and guided by one of our internal experts. Your area of work will consist of:

• Investigate an innovative selective technique for 6G integration sensing and communications.
• Conduct simulations and analysis on the selected technique which may be in one of the following areas: innovative virtual aperture sensing techniques, new multiband sensing approaches, or advanced object localization / recognition schemes.
• Summarize the current state of the art techniques related to your topic.
• Present your results and findings in a final summary report and update your progress to team members at regular intervals.

Your areas of expertise

• Ongoing Master Studies (or equivalent) in electrical/communications engineering, computer science, or information technology with excellent grades.
• Demonstrated affinity with link and/or system level simulations.
• Exposure and good understanding of at least one of the following: AI / ML techniques, statistical signal processing, localization/positioning, sensing techniques, MIMO, beamforming, scheduling.
• Good programming skills in Python, Matlab and/or C/C+.
• Knowledge and good understanding of 4G and 5G.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
