R&D Internship

Deep Origin builds a platform that combines cutting-edge ideas from AI, scientific computing and quantum chemistry to accelerate the drug discovery process many-fold. Our aim is to reduce the timescale of drug discovery projects from years to months.

We’re looking for curious, driven, and technically skilled interns to join our team and contribute to impactful projects shaping the future of our product and technology landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside talented engineers and researchers in a collaborative environment that values initiative, learning, and creativity.

Role Overview

As an R&D Intern, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with other interns and full-time team members to design, develop, and deliver innovative solutions to challenges in drug discovery.

We believe internships should be more about learning than they are  about contributing. During your time with us, you’ll have access to:

• Weekly seminars and tech talks led by engineers and researchers across the company.
• Dedicated mentorship, with co-workers available to support your development, answer technical questions, and help you navigate challenges.
• Code reviews and feedback loops that foster engineering best practices and personal growth.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You...

• Are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related field.
• Have strong problem solving skills.
• Have a solid command of English.
• Have a strong foundation of at least one programming language relevant to our tech stack (e.g., Python, C++, Julia etc.).
• Are excited about building things that solve real life problems.

Selection Process

We aim to keep the selection process clear, efficient, and engaging. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Application Review
   Submit your CV and (optionally) a short personal statement or portfolio link. We’re particularly interested in your motivation, curiosity, and technical foundation.
2. Offline Technical Test
   Qualified candidates will be invited to our office to participate in a supervised offline technical test. The test will cover key foundational areas including:

• Problem solving
• Mathematical analysis
• Discrete mathematics
• Linear algebra
• Algorithms and data structures

3. Final Interview
A conversation with team members to discuss your test, explore your thought process, and determine mutual fit. This is also a great time to ask us questions about the role, projects, or team culture.
