We're looking for a Clinical Data Manager familiar with hematologic malignancies who will be responsible for enhancing curation guidance. As a Clinical Data Manager in hematologic malignancies, your job is to develop new and enhance current materials using evidence-based support for guiding data abstraction standards. Data Abstractors are responsible for reviewing clinical records, structuring key data elements, and building a clinical repository to fuel insights and decision-making for Tempus and our partners. Abstraction relies on curation guidance to maintain the high-quality data abstraction standards that Tempus requires. The role may include oversight and management of a focused group of abstractors for subtype pilot testing and implementation.
The Manager will be responsible for clearly articulating hematologic malignancy project updates to key stakeholders and liaising with the subject matter experts for subtype development. You will work closely with and in support of other Clinical Data Managers (CDM), including our Quality CDM. This is an ideal position for someone with a scientific or clinical background in hematologic malignancies who is interested in working at the crossroads of healthcare technology and data analysis to solve some of today’s most challenging medical questions.
Responsibilities:
Manage the clinical abstraction process to construct the foundation of a growing database for hematologic malignancies
Handle team requests and queries, providing clinical expertise and fielding specific abstraction questions
Leveraging knowledge gained from pilot testing and abstraction queries for development of subtype specific guidance
Utilize evidence-based research to underpin subtype development
Develop and maintain abstraction guidelines and rules by writing and updating SOPs driven by quality metrics and trends
Maintain abstraction quality by developing, interpreting, and tracking standards for the accuracy of data
Work with multiple data sources and formats to support report and insight generation
Train, and guide new Data Abstractors
Uphold quality standards by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising abstractor performance
Qualifications/Skills:
CTR, BSN or MSN, or deep clinical data experience (data managers, clinical monitors, CRAs) preferred
4+ years experience in a clinical or research setting with a preferred focus on hematologic malignancies
Knowledge of medical and genomic terminology, medical abbreviations, and pharmacy terms
Management experience is strongly preferred
Training experience is a plus
Experience in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under time constraints
Obsessive attention to detail
Strong leadership skills, ability, and willingness to work in an agile and expanding team environment
Collaborative mindset
Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload independently
Willingness to be flexible and adapt quickly
Proficient in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Illinois Pay Range: $60,000-$100,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
