Job Description SummaryAs the CT Systems Scientist you'll work in close collaboration with a cross-functional team made up of engineers, clinical applications, researchers, customers, marketing and field teams to define and develop new product technologies to meet customer needs. The CT Systems Scientist position distinguishes itself through a high emphasis on new product innovations and a strong focus on image/signal quality, system safety, and system calibration to drive significant design improvements in product architecture. The work is to a large degree hands-on and involves assignments, such as acquiring data for images and calibration, as well as developing, evaluating, and optimizing algorithms through calculations, modeling, and computer simulations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional team made up of engineers, marketing, product definition, and chief engineers to define system requirements for new products and technology roadmaps.
  • Working across functions and team boundaries to define, design, and implement technology solutions on new product introductions.
  • Using broad technical expertise and experience to help resolve complex design issues with current products.
  • Providing domain expertise to own/lead technical design reviews, investigation of technical risks, as well as providing innovative solutions to achieve optimal system performance.
  • Developing methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on system performance and image/signal quality.
  • Investigating customer questions and complaints to provide technical answers and solutions.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems through strong understanding of mathematics, physics and image/signal processing fundamentals.
  • Effective communication skills – ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to pursue tasks to completion.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Characteristics

  • Ph.D. Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Experience of X-ray or CT physics or technology development.
  • Relevant academic or industry experience.
  • Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis, modeling and simulations, for instance, Matlab, Python, and C++.
  • Experience with research collaborations.
  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment.
  • Excellent influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives.
