Role Overview: The Data Developer will support the Data Manager in developing and implementing data strategies and reporting, driving analytics transformation, and ensuring the integrity and security of company data. This role is in charge of working within the BI team to provide dashboard and reporting solutions that meet the demands of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and other BI tools, based on specifications from business analysts and stakeholders
- Develop and optimise data models and enterprise data warehouse environments, including supporting ETL processes, to ensure performance, scalability, and accuracy
- Collaborate with business users and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, validate outputs, and iterate on report design to meet evolving business needs
- Create and maintain SQL-based solutions, including databases, tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers, to support data extraction and reporting layers
- Support data migration, transformation, and mining efforts, leveraging data lakes and models to enhance visualisation and reporting capabilities
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through regular quality checks, performance monitoring, and collaboration with DBAs and data analysts on architecture and design
- Document report logic, data sources, and usage, while providing training and support to end users and maintaining up-to-date documentation throughout development cycles
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, automate manual tasks, and align development practices with ITIL standards and best practices
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience as a BI Data Developer or in a similar role, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in coding, database design, and management
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing dashboards, worksheets, and reporting tools using BI platforms, with strong skills in SQL and DAX for optimising data models and improving reporting quality
- Experience implementing SSIS and SSAS for ETL tasks, with a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
- Proficiency in Python or R, with familiarity in machine learning techniques and algorithms to support advanced analytics
- Knowledge of database architecture and experience working with enterprise data sources such as JDE and Cognos is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, organisational, and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement
