Job Description

*Must be willing to come onsite to SSF 3 days/week

The Associate Director, Clinical Data Operations, is a leader of the whole data management functions within Clinical Data Operation and Reporting (CDOR) in Oncology Early Development (OED) Clinical Development Organization.  The clinical data operation group is countable for ensuring optimized data operations and delivery of high-quality data for AbbVie’s OED entire clinical trial portfolio through oversight of CRO delivery.  The Associate Director leads the recruitment and training of new staff onboarding activities, manage the overall resource allocation and monitoring on regular basis, provide technical guidance for team members, performs ongoing and annual performance management and staff career development, initiate and lead data management operation related process improvement collaborating with CRO partners, create a collaborative team work environment for both internal staff as well as with CRO partners, build strong relationship with internal and external stakeholders.  This person may also need to support clinical projects if needed, therefore having extensive years of experience in CRF design, fundamental database build knowledge, query management, and 3rd party vendor data management are fundamental to the success of this role.   The associate director may engage innovative projects related to enhancing data collection efficiencies, broader AbbVie data standards initiatives, etc.              

 

Responsibilities:

•Assists CDOR head to develop overall strategic development roadmap within the context of clinical development organizational mission and OED vision.

•Build strong connections with various functions and stakeholders to ensure their business needs are met and promote cross functional collaborations.

  • Lead the clinical data management operation functions process improvement initiatives
  • Provide coaching of staff to ensure they meet department expectations and build career development path

•Facilitates the creation and convergence of technologies used for clinical trial data management and vendor oversight.

•Builds and leads high-performing teams who focus on speed, quality, and agility as measurements of value

•Forms value-add, collaborative partnership with service providers

 

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience. Preferred degrees include health, life science, mathematics, management information systems, business, or data analytics. 10 years of experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
•Proven skill in therapeutic area and program strategy development and in converting strategy to execution of data collection and management
•Ability to influence without direct authority
•Considerable experience with obtaining and maintaining key support in a matrix environment
•Exemplary communication and presentation skills
•Record of successful direct people leadership or significant leadership in matrix environment

•A minimum of 2-5 years of management experience preferred
