Role Introduction

About the Role:

 

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Leader for our new Data Eco-System Team, you will lead a group of technicians, data engineers and analysts, you will work with Business Stakeholders in other departments and drive operational excellence into our delivery.  You will be a self-starter, have worked to mature a data environment which has many conflicting demands on a small team. The role reports to our Head of CRM and Finance Applications.

 

As our technical expert, mentor, and strategic thinker who plays a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership, architecture design, and collaboration across multiple departments.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver operationally for our team and our business: Review and implement process flows and governance to assure the data is accurate, on time and meets the quality the Stakeholders Must Have.
  • Design and Operationalize a Scalable integrated Data Framework: Design and implement data integration frameworks; deliver audit/validation routines and manage the continuous improvement of data, integrations and flows across the landscape. We are a small team so automation is key where feasible.
  • MDM Strategy Execution: Collaborate with governance and architecture teams to operationalize the MDM framework. Focus on Corporate Reg/Legal, Customer, our People and our Products.
  • Data Cleansing & Deduplication: Operationalise processes to eliminate duplication or tasks, or records and ensure consistency across interconnected systems working with the Data Owners.
  • Integration Oversight: Manage our Integration Specialists to monitor and optimize data flows across platforms. Drive delivery and set priorities.
  • Data Migration & Transformation: Perform end-to-end data transformation and migration using tools such as SQL, Excel, PowerBI, VBA, and Python.
  • Dashboarding & Reporting: Leverage Power BI to visualize data quality metrics and generate actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work directly with the Business as a data subject matter expert, translating technical insights for stakeholders across Engineering, Cybersecurity, Product, and Business teams. Bring them with us!
  • Documentation: Oversee detailed records of data flows, governance policies, quality protocols, and integration processes. Support the delivery of Data Models and the Architectural landscaping.

What You Will Have

Technical Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Experience: 10 to 15 years in data engineering, with a track record of leading large-scale transformation projects.
  • Managing a team: you will have led a team or been the deputy manager for a delivery focused team, preferably cross discipline.
  • Communication skills: you will have worked across a business and had experience in interacting with stake holders and delegating the work to Data team, clearly articulating the requirements.
  • Data Proficiency: Advanced skills in SQL, Excel, PowerBI, VBA, and Python for data manipulation and transformation.
  • MDM & Governance: Strong knowledge of master data management frameworks and governance practices.
  • Integration Tools: Hands-on experience with Boomi, APIs or similar tools. Ability to script and review scripts; a nice to have would be Anaplan, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Snowflake.
  • Data Proficiency: Advanced skills in SQL, Excel, VBA, and Python for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Data Visualization: Skilled at visualising MI reports for Business Stakeholders (who are data literate and not).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.

 

Would be really good to have

  • Enterprise Systems: Good understanding of data structures in Salesforce and NetSuite.
  • Business Process Knowledge: Familiar with lead-to-cash workflows and related business processes.
  • Tools: Experience with JIRA and ITSM platforms is beneficial.
