Senior Data Scientist - Bangalore based

The Role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of classification models and customer segmentation strategies for a major investment bank. This role is central to profiling the existing client base on legacy infrastructure and supporting business stakeholders in defining clear migration paths to modern platforms such as Mesh and Finbourne.

• Target start date: June 2025
• Hybrid model - 3 days at Bangalore Office, India
• Salary range: 35,00,000 to 45,00,000 INR

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of classification models to categorise clients based on product usage, service engagement, and behavioural patterns.
  
• Develop robust customer segmentation strategies to support personalisation and migration strategies.
  
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across business and technology to understand legacy data landscapes and future-state architecture.
  
• Oversee and mentor a small team of data scientists and analysts.
  
• Conduct advanced analysis using Python and SQL; apply machine learning techniques for predictive insights.
  
• Translate complex data findings into clear business narratives and actionable outcomes.

What we're looking for in our applicants: 

• 8+ years of experience in data science, preferably in financial services or investment banking.
• Proven expertise in machine learning, particularly classification and clustering models.
  
• Advanced proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc.) and SQL.
  
• Experience leading technical teams or mentoring junior data professionals.
  
• Strong understanding of client lifecycle in financial institutions and regulatory considerations.
  
• Familiarity with data migration strategies and legacy modernisation projects is a plus.
