$77,216.00 - $115,824.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:The General Purpose provides a concise, high-level overview of the role, level, and scope of responsibility consisting of 3-4 sentences. It provides a basic understanding of the job and a concise summary of why the job exists and how it makes an impact.
With general supervision and guidance, participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of analytical and data science-based software and data pipelines to support scientific workflows. Primarily focuses developing and supporting research imaging file and data collection (DICOM) frameworks that integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources and systems, including integration of clinical, and imaging results (raw data and derived) to support specific research study teams. Supports the development and maintenance of infrastructure systems (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes) including data access APIs. Works in partnership with team members and the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience to provide robust, scalable software and programming application solutions to the research enterprise. Requires regular, on-site work part of the time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Builds, maintains, and evolves general data pipelines and overall data architecture to accommodate a growing amount of data from a variety of large research data sources.
- Works with research team members to convert business and technical requirements into professional software solutions. Ensures timely completion of tasks while managing multiple assignments, project timelines, and business user expectations.
- Designs and implements custom, research project-specific data workflow solutions for data collection, management, reporting and analytics, including for image processing workflows Contributes to the scientific research.
- Participates in specification, implementation and execution of testing procedures to ensure quality of deliverables, system and data workflow reliability.
- Adheres to defined application development life-cycle practices, including but not limited to, requirements gathering, writing test plans, source code management, peer code review, and quality assurance through unit/system/user acceptance testing.
- Produces and maintains comprehensive technical documentation for all systems under the Engineer’s responsibilities.
- Keeps abreast of current application developments through continuing education, professional reading, online forums, conferences, workshops, and professional groups.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar discipline REQUIRED
- At least two years of experience in technology and data intensive roles and environments, or equivalent combination of education and experience REQUIRED
- Programming experience in SQL and at least one other applicable language (Java, Python, C, and/or R). REQUIRED
- Programming experience with numeric computing software (eg. MATLAB, Julia) PREFERRED
- Experience with Change Management solutions REQUIRED
- Experience with Version Control solutions (e.g. Git) REQUIRED
Experience implementing and supporting data management systems in a scientific research or clinical context (e.g. PACS, XNAT, electronic laboratory notebooks, LabKey Server, REDCap) PREFERRED
- Experience with Linux, container, and cloud technologies (e.g. HPC, Docker, Kubernetes, IaaS and PaaS) PREFERRED
- Familiarity with file formats, metadata, and data exchange and storage standards applicable in management of scientific and clinical research, imaging files formats (DICOM), metadata, and data standards PREFERRED
