SUMMARY
The Business Intelligence Analyst focuses on a continuous evolution on the delivery of simple, secure and reliable analytics and reporting to empower the credit union. Supports and engages key stakeholders with insights gained from analyzing internal and external credit union and competitive industry data and information. Uses large and small data sets to find opportunities for product, process, income, and strategy optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. Uses a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using and creating algorithms and creating and running simulations. Drives business results with data-based insights and solutions hidden in large data sets. Consolidates the key success measures for the board, helping fulfil any gaps in current reporting to the board, and helps assess and evolve the analytics presented to the board. In-person work will fluctuate with demand. At times, work may require in-person presence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze, Validate, and Produce final reporting and analytics for board packets;
  • Analyze, Validate, and Produce ad-hoc reporting and/or analytics for key stakeholders;
  • Sharing knowledge and subject matter expertise with the full team;
  • Advancing knowledge of report building to utilize all credit union technology systems;
  • Producing standardized reports with a consistent brand;
  • Producing ad-hoc reports that meet defined service levels;
  • Producing accurate reports with value added analysis;
  • Evolving the credit union’s ability to leverage data to drive business decisions through analytics;
    • Critical thinking, inquisitiveness, hypothesis building, ask why and test hypothesis
    • Understand and propose what are critical and material reporting metrics aligned to the macro strategic objectives and metrics
    • Collaboration with the lines of businesses on understanding the data pool and the alignment of their metrics to the corporate strategic metrics
    • Comprehension of the data acquisition journey, material levers, and outputs.
  • Developing and Documenting processes, procedures, and inventory of current, and future, state reporting for the credit union;
  • Maintaining existing reports, library of such reports, and ensuring delivery of reports.
  • Ensuring a continual focus on improving reporting effectiveness and reducing manual efforts required;
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions;
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques;
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes;
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm M-F (remote);
  • On-site activities as scheduled;
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Supports the achievement of strategic objectives critical to other functional areas within the Credit Union.
  • Continuous innovation and process improvements.
  • Service Levels for ad-hoc reporting request related tickets.
  • Delivers successful reporting on time, in brand and with value added analytical analysis.
  • Achieves successful team ratings, survey results and other performance measures.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE including Certificates, Licenses and Registrations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field of study. Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in related field working across both technical and business focused reporting and analytics in the banking/financial services industry.
  • Expert knowledge using Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, or similar languages.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Working knowledge using data visualization tools.
  • Industry recognized certifications such as aCAP, CAP, CCA.

  • Financial industry experience highly preferred

  • Ability to problem solve issues by taking ownership, understanding need for temporary fixes, with ability to implement permanent solutions

  • Be proactive while remaining flexible and adaptive to the evolving needs of all Credit Union staff.
  • Must display a pleasant, professional manner. Model desired behaviors to support the preferred culture and follow guidelines established in the Credit Union's Employee Handbook, including the Code of Ethics.
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work across boundaries and functions at executive levels.
  • Ability to understand and solve problems, analyze and interpret data, manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and be detail oriented.
  • If not already proficient, must develop in depth knowledge of such systems as Fiserv DNA, MeridianLink, and other financial technology related systems as implemented.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT. This includes an obligation on the employee’s part to ensure that NMLA registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT is kept current. The employee must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS registry.
